Uma Bansal

Ms. Bansal is an Associate in the Litigation Practice Group. As a litigator and advocate, Ms. Bansal has served as a trial attorney on intellectual property and police misconduct cases involving false arrest, excessive force, unreasonable searches, personal injury, wrongful death, malicious prosecution and First Amendment violations. Ms. Bansal has served as one of the principal trial attorneys on several federal jury trials and was lead trial attorney for a state court trial. Ms. Bansal has won verdicts for her clients in both forums.

Ms. Bansal has experience in the field of Intellectual Property Litigation having worked with clients on intellectual property and licensing issues, including negotiating software, consulting, biotech and intellectual property agreements. She also has worked with the Patent and Trademark Office to prosecute patents for a variety of technological inventions.

Additionally, Ms. Bansal also has extensive experience drafting and editing a broad-range of outsourcing and technology-related agreements involving consulting services, software licensing, system procurement and integration, and strategic alliances.

Ms. Bansal has helped to battle municipal corruption and wrongdoing. Through the litigation of Seipler v. McHenry County, Mr. Bansal has helped to put an end to racial profiling in the issuing of traffic tickets by the County’s Sheriff’s Department. She recently was one of the principal trial attorneys on a Federal Court case, Smith v. City of Chicago, and won a favorable verdict for her client.

Prior to joining Blake Horwitz Law Firm, Ms. Bansal was an Associate at Freeborn & Peters and DLA Piper.
